For those who have purchased an Apple Watch, Lark Technologies Inc., has introduced the free Lark Chat app – reportedly a new way to approach weight loss and healthful lifestyle changes. A personal weight loss and fitness coach that is assessable at all times with the tap of a finger, requires no extra activity trackers or complex calorie counting apps. And, it’s reported to be easily accessible from an iPhone or Apple Watch.

Combined with the watch’s step-counting, Apple (and Lark-like software) could potentially be a real boon for those at the left tail of the fitness distribution, who just need a little extra coaching.

If you want a chat based meal/sleep/activity tracking app with the occasional gentle mothering, may I suggest “lark” which is free, eerily smart “Her” levels of conversational AI (stat & educational focused), & you barely have to input anything to have an effective experience.
...I downloaded it when I got the Apple Watch & it must be working if I’m still using it weeks later. All you can ask for, made for a beginner & free, for someone to get started with, hence I’m sharing. Diet tracking apps always lost me when I’d have to estimate serving size/weight, but lark doesn’t require that specificity or be annoying about it - it is built to keep you using it, and therefor actually useful.

I mean, take my own adorable 77-year-old mother who’s dropped 50-plus pounds over the last few years using nothing more than an old-school pedometer to track her progress. Although, over the last year she’s evolved to using apps like Lark, the mobile weight-loss and nutrition coach, that tracks almost every aspect of her physical wellbeing from the second she wakes up to the minute she falls asleep.
Not only does it keep accurate track of her steps, her daily nutrition, and calories burned, but it’s constantly talking to her, motivating her to make good choices. It reminds her to get up and move around, to eat clean, and to keep her eye on the prize. Honestly, the thing does everything but slap her on the ass when she finishes a walk. Lark is amazing. I've tried a couple of fitness apps but couldn't ever stick by the obsessive calorie counting and number crunching. Lark, on the other hand, feels like a friend who refuses to let you feel bad about yourself. When I fall short of an exercise goal, Lark asks what's going on. She provides advice and encouragement so that even the occasional admonishment feels kind. This doesn't feel like a number crunching robot, it feel like a personal trainer in your pocket. Scratch that, Lark is your very own cheering section.

This app tracks literally everything in a very simple and intuitive way. You don't even need a fitness bracelet or any other tracking device anymore! Also this app educates you about your health, which is a very neat feature. It syncs with your iPhone Health app for a detailed fitness report.
I share the app or show it often. It has MANY uses beyond my simple needs so far, and my Doctor liked it too. As I gain strength and get back to being the me I was I can't imagine a day without it. I see a lot of ways to benefit from Lark.
I always check Lark to see how I am doing for the day, and the text format makes me feel like I am speaking with someone who is helping me along the way. It is really easy to use and understand, and the information it offers through links and in the dialog are interesting and relevant. Lark takes the counting and guessing out of my other apps and puts all my information together to tell me how I doing.
Found lark instead of a personal trainer: I wanted a personal trainer, but they are expensive! ... Lark actually helped me lose weight... the more I've used it the better it's got! It tells me when I've done well, when I've been slacking and that gives me the extra motivation!
So I just sat in my chair and didn’t move and so I got big. A year ago a doctor worked on me and now I’m not blind. But I was 170lbs and then became 300lbs. I tried a trainer but all he did was yell. And for $600/month it wasn’t worth it. I tried the lose it program and fit bit. It’s good to know everything you’re doing, but it doesn’t interact with you like lark does. In two weeks, I've lost 5lbs. because of it!
I absolutely enjoy the little encouragement pep talks I get from your app. Whenever I walk I look forward to see what it says.
